Bringing Data to Life Across the Team

Coach Brad Grieshop had a vision: a program where swimmers took ownership of their progress, coaches could tailor feedback with confidence, and parents felt connected to the journey, not just the outcome. But he needed a way to bring that vision to life.

While many teams focus solely on athlete training, Coach Grieshop saw a bigger picture:

  • How can we ensure swimmers are tracking their progress meaningfully?

  • How do we help coaches adjust training based on actual metrics, not just feel?

  • And how do we involve parents in the process—without overwhelming them with data?

The challenge wasn’t just collecting data—it was making it useful and accessible for everyone, creating a culture of shared understanding and purpose.

Building Alignment Around Progress, Not Just Performance

Mt. Vernon Aquatics began using TritonWear to anchor their performance reviews, training adjustments, and team communication.

  • Regular team check-ins were structured around TritonWear reports, giving coaches and athletes the opportunity to reflect on trends, growth areas, and set clear goals.

  • Brad developed goal packets using athlete profile data to help swimmers actively track their metrics like DPS, Stroke Count, and Turn Time, and connect that to execution in practice.

  • He shared these insights in team presentations with parents, helping them understand what their athletes were working on and how performance was being measured.

"We wanted to bring the data to life, not just for the swimmers, but for the entire team ecosystem," Brad explained. "Now our parents understand the process, the swimmers are more engaged, and our coaches can make more confident adjustments."

Coach Grieshop also uses live TritonWear data during practices to give athletes immediate feedback.

  • He runs sets focused on stroke efficiency, then compares live DPS and Stroke Count data to help swimmers experiment with different techniques.

  • Athletes are encouraged to review their own data post-practice, and many now come to workouts with specific goals based on what they’ve seen.

"Now instead of just swimming the set, they’re asking—‘What was my stroke count on that one? Did I hold my speed off the walls?’ That changes everything," said Brad.

A Culture Shift Toward Measurable Growth

With TritonWear fully integrated into daily practice, reviews, and communication, Mt. Vernon Aquatics has seen powerful results:

  • Athletes are more engaged and accountable, tracking their metrics and asking smarter questions.

  • Parents are informed and supportive, understanding what their swimmers are working on and why it matters.

  • Coaches have clearer direction, using data to refine training sets and tailor feedback to individual needs.

  • Team culture has shifted, from a results-only mindset to a focus on progress, execution, and ownership.

"TritonWear isn’t just a tool—it’s a framework for how we think, train, and grow as a team."
